Head Start is committed to mentally healthy children and families. Twice a year professionals visit the classrooms to observe the children. If a teacher suspects that a child is in need of help due to behavior problems, with parental permission, a referral will be made to a specialist who will identify behavioral and mental health concerns. Parent involvement is extremely important. Head Start is committed to supporting parents' participation in any needed mental health interventions. As a part of Head Start, families have access to free and confidential counseling services through Family Services of Delaware County.
